Archbishop Józef Kowalczyk passed away

On the night of 20 August 2025, at the age of 86, Archbishop Emeritus Józef Kowalczyk passed away. For many years, he was the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland (1989-2010), and from 2010 to 2014, he was Archbishop of Gniezno and Primate of Poland. His death was announced in Gniezno by the bell of St. Adalbert.
